True life: Kevin loves cars
1967 Volkswagon Beetle
Kevin bought the beetle for a dollar from his dad's college friend. The car had something like 38,000 original miles on it. Most of its life was spent rusting in a yard. As a result the floor was completely rusted out. The "bubble," fenders was all original, but the floor and undercarriage was all gently "refinished."
Inspired by teenage years, Kevin and his friend John Thompson painted the car with lavish artwork on a sunny afternoon in Maine. The car was sold to a father and daughter that were looking to use it as a family project car. Perhaps they replaced that dirty old headliner and finally installed a firewall... |
1993 Toyota Camry Wagon LE
Kevin's true "first car," the 4 cylinder Camry was a faithful companion. A seating occupancy of 7 and an occasional tank with over 30 MPG made this possibly the best car Kevin will have ever driven. He bought it from his grandfather who basically used it to transport golf clubs to and from the course. The Camry was a champion touring machine, didn't at winter conditions, and
The car sustained a significant impact with a deer on interstate 89 in NH and took the abuse of Kevin's youthful road spirt in stride. He traded it in for the Hyundai at just shy of 180,000 miles. |
