Crafter of unique, hand-made jewelry
Kevin Kareckas has been creating original, unique jewelry pieces for over 10 years. His first wire sculpture was a replica of a classic "boat shoe" (size 11). The shoe, now a framework for house-spider webs, still hangs in his childhood home.
Kevin has always been inspired by spirals in nature--notably on the seacoast of Maine where he grew up. They still reoccur in many of his custom pieces today.
Kevin's early work was grounded in hand-twisted, custom wire findings typically with 18 gauge wire. He has since taken delight in wrapping stones and sea glass.
On occasion, friends and family give challenge Kevin to wrap objects that they find while traveling or interacting with the world that surrounds them.

Kevin believes that jewelry should be stunning, durable, and lightweight.
He enjoys working with semi-precious gemstones and has a particular attraction to irregular, freshwater pearls. He commonly fastens his hand made earrings with pre-fashioned ear hooks made from sterling silver. Kevin prefers 22 gauge sterling silver wire for stone wrapping, but has been known to work with gold wire by special request. |
As Kevin is indeed a hobbyist, he has been contacted by former customers and friends to mend "experienced" earrings; or, in one case, to replace a single earring that didn't make it home with it's partner from the airport after a vacation.
If you already cherish one of Kevin's creations that could use a sprucing up, shoot him an email. He is happy to help! |
